WESTCOMM Regional District partnered with KBA to reimagine a vacant college facility as a state-of-the-art communications center serving Chicopee, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, and Monson. Following a feasibility and space needs study, KBA delivered retrofit design solutions that meet the technical and emotional demands of emergency communications.
The new facility offers a professional, safe, and calming environment with administrative offices, training areas, technology rooms, and recovery spaces. It launches with 14 call-taking and dispatch positions, expandable to 18, and incorporates enhanced parking, security, and aesthetics while honoring the original brick structure. Once idle for two years, the site now stands as a resilient, expandable hub for regional emergency operations.
