The DeFilippo Field & Track project was made possible because of a public grant from the State of Connecticut to the City of Derby. Derby’s new athletic facility was completed in 2018 and includes a competition track and track events, a multi-sport synthetic turf field, a press box, and renovations to the existing bleachers.
The new competition track consisting of 6-lanes and an 8-lane straight between the existing bleacher structures, as well as all new track events allowing the school to once again host track meets at home. The multi-sport field is lined for football, soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and field hockey to be utilized by the high school athletics program, community sports programs, and rented to outside organizations. The facility truly is one of a kind and is an incredible experience not just for the athletes, but also for the spectators.
KBA also provided design and construction administration services for the adjacent J.R. Payden Field House & Payden Park Field at Derby High School project.
