Kaestle Boos is completed a study to determine whether a new facility or renovations to the existing buildings is a more feasible solution to address the needs of the Needham Police and Fire Stations. No major upgrades have been completed at either facility in over 25 years. Each facility is undersized, lacks security and technology updates and do not meet numerous state and federal codes including ADA accessibility. Kaestle Boos conducted an existing conditions assessment of each facility and, along with fire station programming and design consultant Mitchell Associates Architects, completed a space needs assessment to determine the recommended space needs program. To meet the needs of each department, plans are being developed for a new combined police and fire headquarters facility as well as a new fire sub-station.
