The project includes the design and construction of a new Public Works headquarters and garage as well as a new combined public safety facility on the existing DPW site, creating a municipal campus. The public safety facility program includes a shared lobby and community room with specific department areas, including a private interview room and triage room directly adjacent to the lobby. The police program includes a sally port, secure prisoner processing and detention area, secure evidence processing and storage, a roll call room, and offices. The fire program includes 5 double deep, drive thru apparatus bays, fire facility support spaces including scba and decon rooms, living quarters, separate EMS storage, a mechanic’s bay, and offices.
Bids were more than $500,000 below estimates. Construction is being phased with the new DPW facility completed first, followed by demolition of the existing DPW facility and construction of the public safety facility on the site.
