The project consisted of the preparation of a campus master plan for site and athletic facility improvements associated with three schools; Memorial High School, Southside Junior High, and Jewett Street Elementary School. Numerous public presentations were made to receive public input and comments from residential neighborhood organizations. Property acquisition/land transfers and significant utility infrastructure improvements were key considerations during the design of the campus master plan. The master plan was completed in Spring 2003.
The improvements at Memorial High School included a full 8-lane 400M synthetic surfaced running track and a lighted multi-sport synthetic infill system playing field. Spectator seating for 3500 individuals was provided, including a fully accessible press box with twin covered filming platforms. Separate team room facilities, an officials room, storage, concessions, and restroom facilities were all provided in the fully accessible site. Vehicular circulation improvements include dedicated student drop-off/pick-up and bus parking areas.
