High School

Location: Northampton, MA
Project Type: Additions & Renovations
Project Cost: $26.2M
Year Completed: 2001
Square Footage: 208,693

Northampton High School was transformed into a state-of-the-art learning facility, while maintaining its original 1940’s art deco integrity. A number of the building’s key areas replaced each other to allow for a 45,000 square foot addition, providing a seamless attachment to the existing building; including, converting the existing gymnasium into a media center, changing the existing library into the guidance center, and replacing the kitchen and cafeteria with art studios.

The addition included a cafeteria, kitchen with servery, gymnasium, and band room. A multi-purpose field, 400-meter track, and 1000-seat grandstand with concession building were incorporated into the design (Sports & Recreation).
