West Hartford Veteran's Memorial

The new Veterans' Memorial in West Hartford was constructed in 2006 as a focal point within the town center. The consecrated ground is unmarked, while a low wall and walkway curves around the perimeter. The low wall, named the 'Wall of Peace,' doubles as a time-line of history running from the Colonial era to present day, and expanding for the next 200 years. Where conflicts occur, there are jagged breaks in the wall; where the names of honored dead are inscribed. In addition, the element of flowing water is used in a separate installation called the 'Healing Rock'.
