Newington
Town Hall

Location: Newington, CT
Project Type: Existing Conditions &
Space Needs Study; Renovations

Kaestle Boos Associates completed an existing conditions study of Newington Town Hall. The study evaluated the original building as well the addition to the facility and the site to identify the items in need of repair or replacement. The facility assessment included the condition of the building envelope and interior environments, roof condition, structural support, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, code compliance, and functionality of spaces. Life-cycle analyses of materials and equipment were also completed. The site assessment examined traffic circulation, parking areas, vehicle and pedestrian access routes, condition of site materials, and landscaping. The final report included prioritized recommendations for repairs and cost estimates. Recently, KBA assisted the Town of Newington with the replacement of the heating system as well as conducting a space needs study for the Town Hall. As a result of the study, Phase I renovations were implemented and are currently underway. In addition, KBA is working with the Town in completing a space needs and expansion feasibility study for the Lucy Robbins Welles Library located adjacent to the Town Hall.
